When We Lost the Baby

Finding God’s Comfort in the Midst of Pain

Losing our baby was one of the most painful experiences we have lived through as a family. It happened at home suddenly and filled with pain. Our hearts were shattered. There were no words only tears and questions. I didn’t know how to talk to God, but He was still there.

In the midst of the silence, God comforted us with tenderness. He spoke to my heart through His Word, the love of others, and moments of peace I can’t explain.

A verse that gave me strength was what Job said in the midst of his loss:

“The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord.”

— Job 1:21

That verse meant more than I can express. It reminded me that everything I have even the life of a child is a gift from God. Even though I didn’t understand why we had to say goodbye so soon, I chose to trust that God’s love hadn’t changed. Praising Him in the midst of the pain didn’t mean I wasn’t hurting it meant I still believed He was good, even in my sorrow.

The pain didn’t go away overnight, but over time, God helped me heal. I still carry the memory of our baby in my heart, and I have the hope that one day I’ll see them in heaven.

“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”

— Psalm 34:18

Even in the midst of grief, I’ve learned that God is faithful, loving, and always near.

A Final Word of Hope

If you are going through a loss, I want you to know this: you are not alone. God sees every tear and holds every broken piece of your heart. One day, joy will return. Until then, hold on to Him—because He will not stop holding on to you.
